On June 10th, ZK Nation released an important announcement regarding the unlocking of ZK tokens. The ZK token was issued in 2024. In the initial allocation, team members of Matter Labs and investors received tokens accounting for approximately 33.3% of the total supply. And the upcoming June 18th will witness a crucial unlocking milestone.
According to the prearranged unlocking plan, on June 18th, up to 25% of the token allocation shares attributable to team members will be unlocked, and at the same time, 10% of the token allocation shares attributable to investors will also be unlocked simultaneously. Reviewing the token acquisition situation of the members of the Matter Labs team and investors, the token allocation shares they received during the Token Generation event (TGE) followed the rule of unlocking within 4 years and a one-year vesting period was set. This means that it takes one year from the initial acquisition of the tokens before some of them start to enter the unlocking process.
Based on the current precise calculation, in this unlocking in June, approximately 760 million tokens, accounting for 3.6% of the total maximum supply of tokens (21 billion), will be unlocked and enter the market circulation. Starting from July 2025, the unlocking mode will stabilize. It is expected that 0.8% of the total token supply, approximately 167 million tokens, will be unlocked each month. This process will continue until June 2028. By then, all the tokens initially obtained by the members of the Matter Labs team and investors will have completed the unlocking process.
It is particularly worth noting that in the entire ZK token distribution system, approximately 33.3% of the total token amount was entirely allocated to the members of the Matter Labs team and investors, and the Matter Labs entity itself did not receive a dedicated token distribution. The implementation of this unlocking plan will have a significant impact on the market circulation volume, price trend and the development of the entire ecosystem of ZK tokens. All market participants need to closely monitor the subsequent developments.
