PANews June 4th News, according to Barrons, Badiss Mohamed Amide Bajjou, a 24-year-old man with dual French and Moroccan citizenship, suspected of planning multiple kidnapping cases of French cryptocurrency entrepreneurs, has been arrested in Tangier, Morocco. The French Minister of Justice confirmed that the suspect is wanted by Interpol on charges such as “kidnapping and unlawful detention of hostages”.
Bajjou is suspected of being one of the masterminds behind the kidnapping of David Balland, the co-founder of the French crypto hardware wallet company Ledger, in January. In addition, the French authorities are also investigating whether it was involved in the multiple attempted kidnappings of people related to cryptocurrencies and their families that occurred in May.
The Moroccan security department stated that criminal gangs recruited French teenagers through the Internet to carry out kidnappings. The French authorities have prosecuted 25 suspects aged between 16 and 23, but the main mastermind – a man of French nationality in his 40s – is still at large.
As Bajjou holds dual nationality, he will not be extradited but will be tried in Morocco on criminal charges issued by France. French prosecutors have transferred the necessary case files to their Moroccan counterparts.
