Changpeng Zhao, the founder of Binance, has offered an intriguing theory about the origin of Bitcoin, one that challenges conventional thinking. In a recent conversation with Turkish social media influencers, Zhao, also known as CZ, proposed that the cryptocurrency might not have been created by a human at all, but rather by an artificial intelligence (AI) from the future.
“It might be software coming back through time… It’s hard to imagine now, but it could be possible,” CZ stated, suggesting that this idea could be one of the “stranger” explanations to the mystery surrounding Bitcoin’s creator.
Despite this bold theory, CZ was careful to clarify that he has no definitive knowledge of who created Bitcoin. “I do not know who he is. So, I’ve never integrated with them,” he said, admitting that while he is familiar with individuals from Bitcoin’s early days, the true identity of its inventor remains a mystery.
Zhao further discussed the possibility that if Bitcoin were the product of a group effort, the members would likely not have been able to maintain complete anonymity. On the other hand, if a single individual was behind its creation, they have certainly succeeded in covering their tracks effectively.
The search for the true identity of Bitcoin’s creator, widely known by the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto, continues to captivate the cryptocurrency community. Several figures have been speculated to be Nakamoto, including the late Hal Finney, Nick Szabo, and Adam Back of Blockstream. In a recent HBO documentary, Canadian developer Peter Todd was also presented as a potential candidate, though this theory was largely dismissed by crypto enthusiasts.
The quest to uncover the true Satoshi remains one of the most enduring and debated mysteries in the world of cryptocurrency.
