A second suspect, William Duplessie, has been arrested in the alleged NYC crypto kidnapping and torture case. Here are the details:
Arrest Details: Duplessie, 32 or 33 years old (reports vary), surrendered to the police at the 13th Precinct in Manhattan on Tuesday, May 27, 2025. He is a Miami resident and is charged with assault, kidnapping, unlawful imprisonment, and criminal possession of a firearm.
Accomplice and Victim: Duplessie is believed to be the business partner and accomplice of John Woeltz. The victim is a 28 – year – old Italian crypto millionaire, Michael Valentino Teofrasto Carturan. Woeltz was arrested on Friday, May 23, 2025, after the victim managed to escape the posh SoHo house where he was being held.
Crime Allegations: The victim arrived in New York from Italy on May 6 and was lured into an eight – bedroom townhouse in Manhattan’s SoHo neighborhood by Woeltz and Duplessie. They allegedly tortured him for weeks to get his bitcoin password. The torture methods included shocking him with electric wires, beating him, cutting his leg with a saw, forcing him to smoke crack cocaine, dangling him over a ledge, and threatening to kill him and his family.
A search of the townhouse turned up a trove of evidence, including cocaine, a saw, chicken wire, body armor, night vision goggles, ammunition, and Polaroid photos of the victim being tortured.
