While the cryptocurrency market is booming, various risks are also following closely, among which some fraud gangs posing as security companies are particularly rampant. Recently, renowned security expert Cos (Yuxian) posted content on the X platform, exposing a group of criminal gangs that claim to help users solve security issues such as wallet theft but actually cause secondary harm to users. Including @JascottRecovery, @SHIELDHUNTER_PR, @BCRescue_, @ben__ethh, etc.
These fraud gangs often take advantage of users’ eagerness when their wallets are stolen or they encounter other security issues, making promises such as helping users recover their lost funds. They widely post false advertisements through various social media platforms to attract victims to contact them voluntarily.
Once a connection is established with the user, various reasons will be used to ask the user to provide wallet information, private keys or pay so-called “service fees”, “deposits”, etc. However, when users operate as required, not only will the original security issues not be resolved, but it may also lead to more funds being stolen, further leakage of personal information, and suffer even more serious losses.
When identifying these fraud gangs, users need to remain highly vigilant.
First of all, a legitimate security company will not casually promise to solve complex cryptocurrency security issues through unfamiliar accounts on social media, especially those involving sensitive matters such as fund recovery. Secondly, if the other party urgently requests core information such as the private key of the wallet or asks to transfer money to an unknown account to pay the fee, it can basically be determined as a fraud. Because the formal security service process would not be so hasty and carry great risks. Furthermore, the communication of fraud gangs often lacks professionalism. They are ambiguous about technical issues and merely emphasize the ability to solve problems quickly and obtain remuneration.
If unfortunately encountering such a fraud gang, users should immediately stop all contact with the other party, keep all chat records, transfer records and other relevant evidence, and report to the local public security authorities at the first time. At the same time, you can report the situation to your local cryptocurrency trading platform or relevant industry association to prevent more people from being deceived.
In the field of cryptocurrencies, security has always been the top priority. Users must choose regular and reputable security service providers, enhance their own security awareness, not easily trust promises from unfamiliar channels, and safeguard their digital assets well.
