Musk’s xAI has entered into a $300 million deal with Telegram to integrate its AI chatbot Grok into Telegram’s messaging platform. Here are the details:
Partnership Terms: The two sides have agreed to a one – year partnership. Under the deal, Telegram will receive $300 million in cash and equity from xAI, and will also get 50% of the revenue from xAI subscriptions sold through the Telegram platform.
Technical Implementation: Grok’s AI capabilities will be directly embedded into Telegram’s existing infrastructure. Users can access Grok via the search bar on Telegram, and it will offer features such as threaded chats, smart text editing, chat summaries, document digests, inbox agents, and group chat moderation.
Significance of the Partnership: For xAI, this collaboration allows it to reach a wider global audience and test Grok’s capabilities on a large scale. For Telegram, it can enhance the app’s features without having to build its own AI from scratch, and also gain a potential new revenue stream. Moreover, the integration of Grok is expected to improve the security of the platform by helping to identify crypto – related scams. This partnership also follows the trend of major tech companies integrating AI capabilities into their messaging platforms, indicating the growing importance of AI in the industry.
